Día De Muertos Reserva - Barrel Aged Mexican Chiapas
The return of Día De Muertos Reserva is more than a roast; it’s a celebration of life, tradition, and craftsmanship. This bold and unforgettable release embodies the soul of Mexico’s Día de Muertos, honoring those who came before us while savoring the beauty of the present moment.
The journey begins in the lush, high-altitude farms of Chiapas, Mexico, where heirloom varietals Bourbon, Caturra, and Catuaí thrive in rich volcanic soil. Fully washed to highlight their natural sweetness and clarity, these beans are then aged for 21 days in authentic Añejo tequila barrels. During this time, they absorb the spirit of finely aged tequila, developing notes of caramelized oak, vanilla, and smoke that intertwine with the coffee’s inherent chocolate and nutty character.
Roasted to a medium level, the result is a cup layered with depth and warmth:
-
Dark Chocolate: A deep, cocoa-rich base that anchors the cup with velvety smoothness and a hint of bittersweet intensity.
-
Roasted Almonds: Toasted nut tones rise through the middle, bringing warmth, texture, and a soft, buttery depth that complements the chocolate beautifully.
-
Vanilla Bean: Natural sweetness blooms on the finish, infused with whispers of Añejo tequila, adding creamy elegance and a refined, dessert-like balance.
-
Añejo Influence: Subtle notes of oak, caramel, and smoky spice from the barrel aging linger gently in the background, creating an aftertaste that is both spirited and smooth.
Every sip of Día De Muertos Reserva pays tribute to craftsmanship and celebration. It bridges past and present, culture and flavor, coffee and spirit. This cup tells a story—vibrant, soulful, and enduring, much like the traditions that inspired it.
Celebrate life. Savor tradition. Raise your cup to the art of the roast.
