Cafe at Home: How To French Press
So today we do a little deep dive into French Press. While it might not be our favorite or recommended brewing method of choice, it does hold its own. If you'd like to see how we did it, check out our YouTube channel to watch, otherwise let's dive in to the two recipes we used!
Recipe #1 "The Lazy Sunday"
This is a standard 4 minute pour/steep/press recipe
Step 1: Bring water to 210F degrees
Step 2: Place preheated carafe on scale and set to 0 grams
Step 3: Using FRESHLY coarse ground coffee, place 50 grams of grinds in carafe
Step 4: Tare scale to 0 grams, pour 750 grams of water, start timer and stir
Step 5: At 4 minutes, press your coffee and pour!
Recipe #2 "The Hoffman"
This is a much more enjoyable cup of coffee but it does take a bit of time!
Step 5: At 4 minutes, carefully skim the top layer of grind and foam
Step 6: Wait 6 more minutes!
Step 7: Carefully pour into a mug, do NOT PRESS! We do not want to disturb the bed of coffee that has settled at the bottom of the carafe.
Step 8: Enjoy!
